Food Truck Night at Willow's Market
The Willow's Market in Menlo Park hosts a food truck night every Monday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. Check the market's Facebook for details. The Oct. 21 trucks are: Butterscotch On the Go, KOJA Kitchen, Hill Country BBQ, Los Altos Taqueria (reviewed in the Mountain View Voice here), Roti Roti and Lil Green Cyclo. Willow's also does free wine tastings most Wednesdays, 5 to 8 p.m., and free beer tastings most Thursdays, 5 to 8 p.m.

Quattro Restaurant wine tasting
For the winos: Quattro Restaurant at the Four Seasons in East Palo Alto is hosting a wine tasting on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 3 to 5 p.m. Sip on wines from seven local Santa Cruz Mountain Wineries including Ridge Vineyards, Thomas Fogarty Winery, TestaRossa winery, Clos LaChance, Savannah Channele Vineyards, Demenico and EmmaLily Vineyards. There will be food on hand too, drawn from Quattro's "Intermezzo" menu ("tantalizing tastes to fill those between times," a description on the restaurant website reads).

Harvest Dinner at Quattro
Quattro is also teaming up for a November "harvest dinner" with Grgich Hills Estate, the Napa winery best known for hosting the "Judgment of Paris" in 1976, when California wines beat out France in a blind taste test ("Bottle Shock," anyone?). Dine like a California king on a five-course menu, paired with Grgich Hills wines and conversation with the winery's vice president of vineyards and production, Ivo Jeramaz.

'Leftover Makeover' and 'Fabulous Dishes, No Shopping Required'
Learn how to stop wasting food from Laura Stec, a chef, educator and blogger for The Almanac, who will teach two free workshops dealing with creating delicious meals while reducing waste, both sponsored by City of Palo Alto's ZeroWaste program. "Leftover Makeover" will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, and "Fabulous Dishes, No Shopping Required" on Saturday, Dec. 14 both from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The focus of each workshop is reworking leftovers plus getting tips to prevent waste in the first place; each involves a cooking demo, food samples and a raffle.

'Dining Gloriously from a Small Food Garden'
Pam Peirce, author of "Golden Gate Gardening" and "Wildly Successful Plants: Northern California," will offer a class on "Dining Gloriously from a Small Food Garden" from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Common Ground, 559 College Ave., Palo Alto. The class will deal with choosing and timing plantings and will include easy recipes (with handouts). A book signing will follow the class. Cost is $31.
