The new MVWSD Board Facilities Committee

Earlier this year, several members of the MVWSD board of trustees began working towards establishing a "facilities committee". Such a committee would consist of members of the community, including parents of students in district schools, as well as other members of the Mountain View school district community.

At the August 22nd board meeting, the trustees deliberated on the bylaws for such a committee, and voted to create a board facilities committee. The video from that section of the meeting is available here.

At the October 3rd board meeting, the trustees reviewed the 11 applications from community members interested in volunteering to be on the facilities committee. The video for the discussion of applicants is available here.

The stated purpose of the Board Facilities Committee (BFC) is: "to provide an open public forum whereby the community can be informed of and participate in the Measure G facilities construction process at MVWSD middle and elementary school facilities."

In late October, the first committee meeting took place. The new committee members had a chance to meet each other, as well as the President and Vice-President of the Board, and the Superintendent. The 11 members of this committee are (in alphabetical order):

During the meeting, Jim Pollart was elected Chair, Andy Kirby was elected Vice-Chair, and I was elected Secretary.

The next meeting of the Board Facilities Committee is scheduled for 7:30 PM on December 17th, in the District Boardroom at 750-A San Pierre Way, in Mountain View.
