Pastel plein air painting classes
Portola Art Gallery's Jan Prisco will offer weekly pastel plein air painting classes at Allied Arts Guild and other Peninsula locations. Beginning and intermediate pastel painters are welcome. Wednesdays, April 16 through August 1, 1:30-4:15 p.m. $30/class; $100/four-class bundle. Allied Arts Guild, 75 Arbor Road, Menlo Park.

'Inside Rodin’s Hands: Art, Technology and Surgery'
James Chang has incorporated Rodin's hand sculptures into his hand surgery educational program, using new technologies that scan the sculptures, create interior anatomy and allow for virtual surgery to correct the condition. Marine Science Camp
The Marine Science Institute is hosting a camp that offers hands-on activities, live animals and educational field trips including a day aboard the Marine Science Institute research vessel. Week-long camps run from June 16–Aug. 15; each day starts at 10 a.m. Registration opens Feb. 1. Starting at $375. Marine Science Institute, 500 Discovery Parkway, Redwood City.

'The Stanford Albums'
To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Yosemite Act of 1864, the Cantor Arts Center will mount an exhibition of 19th-century photographer Carleton Watkins' Pacific Coast photographs, all drawn from three unbound albums in the Stanford library’s Special Collections. 'Capturing Light'
"Capturing Light: The World as We See It" is a judged exhibit and sale of 50 prints by members of the Palo Alto Camera Club, including 12 photos taken in Havana, Cuba. A percentage of proceeds from print sales will go to Cultural Kaleidoscope, a City of Palo Alto program supporting art in local schools. Monday-Friday, March 10-August 28, 8 a.m.-noon; 1-5 p.m. Free. For the Love of Dance offers training in ballet, jazz, tap and other styles of dance. Serving Mountain View, Palo Alto, Los Altos and Sunnyvale, it is a family-owned studio that teaches dance to children and adults at all levels of ability.
