ESL Conversation Club
Those learning or improving English speaking skills are invited to come practice at club meetings with casual conversation and friendly company. All levels are welcome, no registration required. Wednesdays, year-round, 5-6 p.m. Free. Mountain View Public Library, 585 Franklin St., Mountain View.

Volunteers

Silicon Valley Tour de Coop preparation
Neighbors Helping Neighbors will hold a variety of volunteer activities leading up to and during the Silicon Valley Tour de Coop, a bike ride between chicken coops and home gardens on Sept. 21. Volunteer opportunities include putting up fliers and posters, doing test bike rides, organizing other small events to spread the word and staffing locations on tour day. The organization also seeks community members with chicken coops, beehives and home gardens to host stops. June-September, dates and times vary. Free. Neighbors Helping Neighbors events, various nearby locations, Palo Alto and Mountain View.

'Night, Smoke and Shadows'
This exhibition, named "Night, Smoke and Shadows: The Presence of Atmosphere in the 19th Century," includes prints, drawings and photographs by artists such as James McNeill Whistler, Max Klinger, Felicien Rops and Alvin Langdon Coburn. Wednesday-Sunday, May 14-Oct. 5, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursdays til 8 p.m. (after September 21, the center will also be open Mondays). Free. Cantor Arts Center, 328 Lomita Drive, Stanford.

For the Love of Dance classes
For the Love of Dance offers training in ballet, jazz, tap and other styles of dance. Serving Mountain View, Palo Alto, Los Altos and Sunnyvale, it is a family-owned studio that teaches dance to children and adults at all levels of ability.
