Exhibits

'Dana Harel: Between Dreams and Nightmares'
A solo exhibition of new works by Redwood City artist Dana Harel will be on display at the Palo Alto Art Center. Organized by Laguna Art Museum, the exhibit consists of 15 mixed-media drawings of animal and human figures, reflecting the messiness of war. June 14-Sept. 7, center hours. Free. Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road, Palo Alto.

Volunteers

Silicon Valley Tour de Coop preparation
Neighbors Helping Neighbors will hold a variety of volunteer activities leading up to and during the Silicon Valley Tour de Coop, a bike ride between chicken coops and home gardens on Sept. 21. Volunteer opportunities include putting up fliers and posters, doing test bike rides, organizing other small events to spread the word and staffing locations on tour day. The organization also seeks community members with chicken coops, beehives and home gardens to host stops. June-September, dates and times vary. Free. Palo Alto Toastmasters
Since 1924, Toastmasters International has been helping people around the world to improve their communication and leadership skills. The Palo Alto Toastmasters Club meets each week in city hall's Council Chambers. Club membership is diverse, and guests are welcome. Tuesdays, through December, noon-1 p.m. Free. City Hall, First Floor, Council Chambers, 250 Hamilton Ave., Palo Alto.

Toastmasters focuses on improving the communication and leadership skills of its members. Each week covers a different skill related to public speaking. For the Love of Dance offers training in ballet, jazz, tap and other styles of dance. Serving Mountain View, Palo Alto, Los Altos and Sunnyvale, it is a family-owned studio that teaches dance to children and adults at all levels of ability.
