Volunteers

Silicon Valley Tour de Coop preparation
Neighbors Helping Neighbors will hold a variety of volunteer activities leading up to and during the Silicon Valley Tour de Coop, a bike ride between chicken coops and home gardens on Sept. 21. Volunteer opportunities include putting up fliers and posters, doing test bike rides, organizing other small events to spread the word and staffing locations on tour day. June-September, dates and times vary. Free. Neighbors Helping Neighbors events, various nearby locations, Palo Alto and Mountain View.

The exhibit "Huangshan and Zhangjiajie, China: Photographs of Land and Culture" will be on display at the Krause Center for Innovation. June 23-Sept. 26, center hours. Free. Krause Center for Innovation, 12345 El Monte Road, Building 4000, Los Altos Hills.

'Night, Smoke and Shadows'
This exhibition, named "Night, Smoke and Shadows: The Presence of Atmosphere in the 19th Century," includes prints, drawings and photographs by artists such as James McNeill Whistler, Max Klinger, Felicien Rops and Alvin Langdon Coburn. This exhibition features about 18 prints and drawings that focus on the post-17th century impulse to study nature. La Comida volunteer opportunities
The La Comida Senior Lunch Program has various volunteer opportunities available, including helping to welcome and serve seniors, translate, assist with special programs and do community outreach. Dance

Social Ballroom Dancing
Social ballroom dancing takes place every Friday and Saturday throuhgout the year at Cubberley Pavilion, starting at 8 p.m. with a lesson followed by general dancing. Go to www.cubberleyballroom.com for lesson schedule. No experience or partner necessary. Cover includes refreshments. 8 p.m.-midnight. $9. For the Love of Dance classes
For the Love of Dance offers training in ballet, jazz, tap and other styles of dance. Serving Mountain View, Palo Alto, Los Altos and Sunnyvale, it is a family-owned studio that teaches dance to children and adults at all levels of ability. Art Galleries

'From the Ground Up'
Artists Martha Castillo and Trevlyn Williams will have new works on display at Gallery House, which are inspired by the colors, textures and light of California's natural landscapes.
