The Mountain View Public Library is currently displaying an exhibition of polymer clay ornaments made by two Mountain View residents, Dotty Calabrese and Kim Korringa.
The exhibition, which is located on the second floor near the periodicals area and began Oct. 13, features such objects as earrings, necklaces, pendants, pins, and a teapot. In addition to the brightly colored objects, many of which have complex geometric designs, the display also contains pictures and diagrams describing the steps involved in making polymer clay ornaments.
Dotty Calabrese, one of the featured artists, has been working with polymer clay since 1989. She is also a computer specialist in the Sunnyvale elementary schools.
Kim Korringa, also a featured artist, became interested in polymer clay in 1993 when she took a class at Global Beads in Mountain View.
"I love the intricate detail and bright colors of polymer clay," said Korringa. "It's a very interesting medium to work with."
In the past, the library has displayed Snow White collectibles, antique candy dispensers, and antique diving equipment.
"We're always looking for collections of art to go in our display cases," explained librarian Kathleen Long. "We try to cover as broad a spectrum of interests as possible."
Supervising librarian Linda Arbaugh encourages anyone with submissions for displays to contact her at 903-6335.
