Three-story building to have retail on first floor, office above
The city council Tuesday gave its approval for a three-story office building to be built at 895 Villa St., the current site of the Golden Wok restaurant.
The 13,414-square-foot project at the corner of Villa and Bryant Streets will have office space on the top two floors, and retail, or a retail/office combination, on the first floor. It will also have an underground parking garage with space for 64 cars.
And while there is currently no prospective tenant for the retail space, city council members and property owner Roger Kao expressed hope that the gourmet supermarket chain Trader Joe's would be interested in the site.
However, Council members Ralph Faravelli and Rosemary Stasek said they did not think the building would have enough on-site parking for the store.
