Mountain View doubles up on Cupertino
The offense was clicking for the Mountain View girls' basketball team last Friday night as it defeated the Cupertino Pioneers 66-32 on the road.
Guard Laura Brigham led all scorers with 18 points, including the first nine of the game when she nailed three uncontested three-pointers.
Peyton Paulick had another solid night, posting 12 points in the paint and playing well defensively. Paulick had two blocks on the night, one coming off a shot near the free-throw line.
"I think this was one of our best team efforts," said Spartan coach Paul Roming. "We did a great job with pressure defense. We shared the ball on offense and were able to rotate and get easy shots."
Spartan Biz Lynch often finished the rotation and earned 13 points, mostly coming from baseline shots.
"They are loaded," said Pioneer head coach Wes Morse, after the game. "They are a better shooting team."
With the win, the Spartans moved to 6-1 in division play and will host Gunn Feb. 5 at 7 p.m.
Eagle girls best Bruins
The Los Altos Eagles soared over the Santa Clara Bruins last Friday, defeating them 41-32 on the road.

The next home game for the Eagles will be against the Fremont Firebirds on Feb. 5 at 7 p.m.
Los Altos boys outdone
The Los Altos boys' basketball team stayed with the Santa Clara Bruins for most of the game last Friday, but its dismal second-quarter performance hindered a comeback. After being outscored 10-22 in the second quarter, the Eagles went on to fall to the Bruins 56-44.
Los Altos forward Shawn Girouard finished the night with a team-high 19 points, including seven points from the free-throw line. With the loss, the Eagles are now 3-12 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
Los Altos' next game will be away against the Saratoga Falcons on Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.
Battle of the birds goes Eagles' way
