Voices Around Town
Voices Around Town
(February 06, 2004) What are your thoughts on the Democratic primary race?
Asked in downtown Mountain View. Pictures and interviews by Dan Stapleton.
"I'm a Dean supporter, but right now it looks like Kerry is going to win it. I'll take anyone who can beat George Bush."
Elmo Duran, Mountain View
"I like what I hear from Kerry, and Edwards is a second choice. I don't like Dean. He seems too irrational."
Jerry Allen, Los Altos
"I've been listening to NPR, and it sounds like Kerry is in the lead right now, but it seems to me that he's just pandering to whatever group he happens to be talking to. He's a Washington insider, and everything he does seems staged and without emotion. Dean has more sincerity and pathos when he speaks."
Craig Whitt, Mountain View
"I've been listening, but I haven't heard a lot about it because the media isn't concentrating on the issues. They're talking about whether Kerry had Botox injections or if Dean has a temper. Maybe when they come to California, we'll hear about the issues."
John Crown, Fremont
"I'm indecisive right now. George Bush is doing a good job. He did what he had to do. But I think it's going to come down to a close race between Bush and Howard Dean."
David Thompson, Mountain View
"I've only followed it a little bit because I'm disgusted with politicians right now. They all just want to spend other people's money and don't care about balancing spending. I'll wait until it comes down to the wire and then vote with my pocketbook."
Pamela Thivierge, Mountain View
