Castro meeting
The Mountain View Whisman School District will hold a town hall style meeting at Castro School on March 23. Superintendent Jim Negri and members of the school board will be on hand to answer questions from the community about educational issues facing the school district. A Spanish-speaking translator will also be on hand during the meeting.
The meeting has no agenda, and no action will be taken. Castro is located at 505 Escuela Ave. The meeting will run from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
School closure committee moves forward
The group of parents, teachers and district heads looking into the possibilities of a school closure will still present its findings to Mountain View-Whisman trustees on March 25, despite Superintendent Jim Negri's statement that the district will not have to close a campus this fall.
"There is a real need to finish the process," Negri said. If the district needs to close a campus in the future, Negri said he doesn't want to start from scratch. Having a process already in place with a recommendation will help a future school board make a decision, Negri added.
