Voices Around Town
(April 09, 2004) Do you think the U.S. should pull out of Iraq?
Asked in downtown Mountain View. Photos and interviews by Dan Stapleton.
"No, we'll be seen as turning our backs and ditching. The Iraqi people will think we're abandoning them. I don't support that idea at all."
John Jonson, Mountain View
"Yes. Part of it is that I really questioned if we should have been there in the first place. I'm concerned that we're trying to mold the country into something like us, and it's none of our business."
Ada Lai, South San Francisco
"No. I don't know too much about all this, but what's going to happen if we pull out? Yeah, people are dying, but won't the things we went there to stop continue happening?"
Greg Stevenson, Mountain View
"Yeah, I do. I don't think we should have been there at all. I feel like they don't want us there, and they're just trying to get us out."
Debbie Zimmerman, Mountain View
"Absolutely not, no way. We started a job, and we can't just leave them hanging. We're the only thing that's keeping anarchy from breaking out."
Ron Aquino, San Ramon
