(May 14, 2004) Ways to reduce your risk of stroke
* Stop smoking.
* Maintain health blood pressure at less than 140/90.
* If diabetic, maintain blood sugar levels as directed by your doctor.
* Have a lifestyle that includes exercise.
* Know what you eat and how it affects your health.
Talk with your doctor about these medically treatable risk factors:
* Atrial fibrillation
* Blockage or hardening of arteries
* History of Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
* History of previous stroke
* History of previous heart attack
