Should Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld resign because of the Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal?

Asked in Downtown Mountain View. Pictures and interviews by Corey Pride.

"I don't like the prisoner abuse issue, but no. He's not at fault"
Norman Le Cointre, Mill Valley

"Yes, definitely. They were breaking the Geneva Convention rules and he is ultimately the guy responsible."
Johnny Kwon, San Jose

"I personally think you have to go through due process. If he did know (about the abuse) then yes. If he didn't know, then no."
Hanz Kurdi, Palo Alto

"Absolutely. I think he and Bush have been defiant since the war occurred and this is one more reason you can't trust him."
Brad Jasinsky, Sunnyvale

"I think Rumsfeld is being scapegoated. I don't think his resignation is going to help anything."
Judy Thompson, Mountain View

"No. It's bad for the country when we impeach, recall or force somebody to resign everytime they do something bad."
Michael Birk, Alameda

"Absolutely. He's failed as a manager. He's an experienced government official and he should know how the game is played."
David Wadley, Menlo Park
