What do you think of the law that requires sex offenders to register with police?
Asked in Downtown Mountain View. Photos and interviews by David Herbert.
"It's a reasonable law. I think if you commit a crime like that, you lose some privileges."
Edmond Macaluso, Los Altos
"I think it's probably a good thing. I think the issue of safety outweighs the offender's privacy rights."
Melissa Buren, Mountain View
"I think it should be a law. Every human being has a right to privacy, but if you have kids like me, it's always good to know if [sex offenders] are around."
Dolores Garcia, Sunnyvale
I don't think it's fair. I don't believe in any law that blacklists you for the rest of your life. It's against the idea of forgiveness. And I don't think informing the neighborhood makes it any safer."
Wahome Muchiri, Mountain View
"I think it's good. I don't want some sex offender living near me and my children."
Amanda Mullennix, Mountain View
