(September 10, 2004) Which is worse: a hurricane or an earthquake?
Asked in Downtown Mountain View.
Photos and interviews by Huong Pham and David Herbert.
"I've never experienced a hurricane. I imagine a hurricane would be worse because it would wipe everything out, whereas an earthquake is underground."
Chrissi Angeles, Mountain View
"Hurricane. It lasts longer, it comes around more frequently, and there's a lot more damage over the years."
Bob Geise, Mountain View
"Hurricane. I've gone through earthquakes, but I haven't experienced a hurricane. Earthquakes move underground whereas hurricanes move everything else."
William Kennedy, an RV
"Being a new Californian, an earthquake, depending on the severity. I'm from the East Coast, and I've experienced hurricanes, but they haven't been devastating."
Diane Nanis, Mountain View
"Maybe a hurricane because of the flooding. Plus, it wrecks the houses."
Daniela Turner, Mountain View
