New paratransit rules proposed
The Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is proposing a reduction to the requirements for paratransit users. Under the proposed changes, the 8-page application would be eliminated, and applicants would not be required to prove their disability before being interviewed by VTA. A VTA spokesperson said the proposed rule changes are aimed to streamline the application process.
A community meeting to discuss the proposal will be held on Dec. 8 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m at the VTA offices in San Jose.
Pajama party for charity
There will be no pillow fights or games of truth-or-dare, but Mountain View-based Spectrum Fine Homes will be hosting its third annual Holiday Pajama Party Dec. on 12 from 1 to 5 p.m. at its new office on Whisman Road.
The event was organized as a benefit to collect pajamas for Community Services Agency's holiday sharing drive. Last year, Spectrum contributed more than 50 sets of pajamas. Co-owner Bob Davis said this year he is hoping to get 75 pairs.
Davis said he and his wife Susan, along with the rest of the Spectrum staff, will be dressed appropriately for the event, but the real goal is to get people to donate pajamas rather than wear them.
