(February 18, 2005) Hangar One debate still alive
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency officials were expected to initiate a formal dispute process in the fight over the Navy's clean-up efforts at Hangar One on Moffett Field. Last Wednesday was the deadline for declaring a dispute.
The Navy released its plan to investigate toxic chemicals around the hangar in mid-January, but stirred up opposition by ignoring lead contamination and refusing to take responsibility for pollution inside the hangar. The interior contamination, which came from the 72-year-old hangar's building materials, is currently blocking plans for an ambitious aerospace museum and theme park at the site.
Caltrain changes schedule for President's Day
Caltrain will be running a modified Sunday schedule this Monday, in light of the President's Day holiday. North and southbound local trains will be leaving Downtown Mountain View every hour between 7:19 and 10:24.
In addition, Caltrain will operate one baby bullet in each direction during morning and afternoon rush hours. Schedules are available online at www.caltrain.com and by calling (800) 660-4287.
