Obituaries

Jean M. Allington of Mountain View died at the age of 54 on Jan. 31. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Allington's parents, Frederick and Julia Bray Allington, preceded her in death. She is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Edward and Kate Allington of Saginaw; Richard and Teri Cocquyt of Niagara, Wisconsin; and James and Mary Allington and William and Teresa Allington of Knoxville, Tennessee.

Allington's funeral was held at Our Lady of Peace Church in Santa Clara. A memorial mass will be held at 9 a.m. on March 13 at St. Simon Church in Los Altos.

Helen Pachter Rutkowski

Helen Pachter Rutkowski died Feb. 14 at the age of 87. She was a native of Philadelphia and lived in the Bay Area since 1963.

During her 24-year career in the Navy, Rutkowski worked as an airplane mechanic and flight-simulator trainer. She was stationed at Moffett Field during the last five years of her career, and she continued to work there as a civil servant until her retirement in 1992.

Rutkowski was preceded in death by her husband of 17 years, Arthur Rutkowski.
