A former Baylor University basketball player who pleaded guilty to the 2003 murder of a former St Francis High School student, Patrick Dennehy, has been sentenced to 35 years in state prison.

Carlton Dotson, who was Dennehy's 23-year-old teammate and roommate at Baylor, pleaded guilty to the murder charge on June 8, according to defense attorney Russ Hunt. Dennehy, a former Santa Clara resident, had played basketball for both Wilcox High School and St. Francis High School.

Life sentence handed down for Condon murder

Enrique Chavez was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Friday for the 2003 murder of 77-year-old Mountain View resident Doris Condon.

Condon died at the end of a month-long coma after being strangled and then robbed by the 27-year-old Chavez. Chavez's accomplice, David Olayo, 21, was convicted of first-degree murder last month.

Another alleged accomplice, 34-year-old Jose Sosa, still faces charges.

Woman hit by construction truck died of injuries

Rebecca Lamiento, the 70-year-old woman who was struck by a large construction truck on the corner of El Camino Real and Americana Avenue on May 25, has since died.

The empty dirt-hauling truck that hit Lamiento was part of the Camino Medical Group construction project at 701 E. El Camino Real. Police spokesman Derek Sousa said the construction company has since posted someone at the intersection holding a stop sign for the trucks in an attempt to increase safety.

The police department says it is close to wrapping up an investigation on the accident.
