Stolen vehicle, 400 block Tyrella Ave., 9/14
A police officer pulled over a car after seeing it speed down Tyrella Avenue. After running the plates, the officer realized the vehicle had recently been reported stolen from Oakland and arrested the driver for possession of stolen property. Police also arrested a male passenger on a parole hold and cited a female passenger for a narcotics violation.
Burglary, 525 South Drive, 9/15
Police responded to an alarm at a doctor's office at 3:52 a.m., arriving just in time to notice a pick-up truck leaving the scene. Officers stopped the driver and searched the vehicle, finding an unopened safe in the bed of the truck. The safe was shortly thereafter determined to have been taken from the office, which officers said was ransacked and had its front door smashed. Police arrested the driver, a 36-year-old male, on suspicion of burglary.
Grand theft, California 200 block Ortega Ave., 9/15
A woman was waiting at the bus stop at California Street and Ortega Avenue when a man ran up and grabbed her purse out of her hand. He fled on foot, but officers later found him near the San Antonio Caltrain station. The woman's purse was found nearby on the sidewalk, its contents strewn on the sidewalk. The suspect, a 19-year-old male from Tracy, was arrested and booked.
