Around 5:55 a.m., neighbors saw three people breaking into at least two cars and confronted them. The suspects fled, but returned about an hour and a half later to pick up some of their belongings. By that time the police were at the scene and all three suspects were arrested and booked into jail.
Petty theft, 1900 block California Street, 12/11

Police received a call from a person who reported his digital camera stolen. The victim said he suspected an acquaintance with whom he had a dinner a few days earlier. According to the report, the two men went back to the victims' apartment after dinner and while the host was using the bathroom, the guest left with the camera. The police officers contacted the suspect and although he denied taking the camera, he also called the victim and offered to return it on the condition that the police would be kept out of it. The two men set up a meeting at which the suspect was positively identified and arrested on charges of petty theft.
