MV citizens form local tree lobby
(February 03, 2006) Local residents hoping to help the city keep track and take better care of its trees met last weekend at the house of former parks commissioner Ronit Bryant.
The first meeting of the group, calling itself MV Trees, drew 16 people Sunday. They formulated a plan to help with a survey of city trees that are between 1 and 5 years old, drew up plans for a Web site, and prepared to publicize their efforts at a March 11 Arbor Day celebration.
Bryant said the group's focus is on giving practical support to the city beyond simply being an advocacy organization.
"The city's doing an excellent job, but it can always use more help," said Bryant.
Interested parties should contact Bryant at ronitb@ix.netcom.com, or at (650) 964-1966.
