COMING UP: Citywide garage sale

Front yards and driveways will be turned into bargain-hunting grounds this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the annual citywide garage sale.

This year, the garage sale has gone high tech: Web users can print out a shopping list, and shoppers with a cell phone or PDA can search the city Web site for locations or even for specific items listed for sale. (Those with only a wireless connection can use the city's free Google WiFi.)

A second event, the citywide yard sale, where more than 100 vendors will sell their wares, takes place the following Saturday, May 9, at Rengstorff Park from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The city has put together a map of locations for the garage sales, which is available at www.mvrecycle.org.
