Authorities have yet to identify the woman fatally struck by a passenger train Monday evening at the San Antonio station in an incident that is tentatively being considered a suicide.
Southbound train No. 276 struck the woman at about 6:35 p.m. and trains were temporarily stopped in both directions, Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn said.
Dunn said it appears the woman intentionally went in front of the train, but the official cause of the death is under investigation by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.
There was no report of injuries to passengers on the Gilroy-bound train.
Northbound tracks were reopened at about 7:25 p.m. Trains single-tracked through the area at a reduced speed late into Monday night, with delays of up to an hour, Dunn said.
