The Santa Clara County medical examiner's office today identified a 26-year-old Mountain View man who was struck and killed by a Caltrain at the San Antonio station in Mountain View Wednesday.
Southbound train No. 264 struck and killed Alejandro Escobar Samayoa at about 5:10 p.m. at the station, located at Showers Drive and San Antonio Road, according to Caltrain spokeswoman Tasha Bartholomew.
Preliminary reports indicate Samayoa stepped off the platform and in front of the train as it was passing through the station.
There was no report of injuries to any occupants of the train.
Passengers on train No. 264 boarded another train and bus bridges were set up in coordination with the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority to transport commuters between Mountain View and Palo Alto during peak commute hours.
There have been 17 fatalities on Caltrain tracks this year, according to Bartholomew.
