Kevin is a good example of hiring city/school management who have a community stake in the local environment. I often notice disappointing results from managers, principals, etc. that are hired from a 'national search' and really end up no better than a local boy (or girl) who has done well and is just waiting for a 'good job' to serve the local community. We have plenty of smart and ethical professional people in out local environment - I would like to see them have a chance at the local important jobs before we hire from a 'national hotshot' pool of candidates.
If someone has to 'commute' 50 miles, or hasn't held a positions for at least 5 years in one (successful) organization - I really don't care how impressively they 'interview'. Give me a more soft spoken competence.

Well said. I agree. The schools experience with the last superintendent, Maurice Ghysels, makes your words ring so true. Many are still suffering from fatigue from that hotshot experience.

Your comments are valid, make sure you tell Council. They want to hear from the community as they go through the recruitment process!
