Man attempts to steal bag of dog droppings

In a bizarre attempted robbery, an unknown man tried -- and failed -- to snatch a bag of dog droppings from a woman's hand on Monday, while she was out walking her pet in the 2000 block of Central Expressway, police said.

At about 9:30 p.m. on April 16, a man reportedly ran up behind the victim, grabbed at the plastic shopping bag she was carrying and tried to make a break for it, but the bag and the dog's leash were both looped over the woman's hand, according to police spokeswoman Liz Wylie. This made it hard for him to free the plastic bag.

The robber eventually gave up and ran away, Wylie said. The woman did not call police until after she had told her friend the strange tale, at least 45 minutes after the attempted robbery. Police did not find the suspect, who is described as being about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, said Wylie.

45 minutes? I wish the the lady would have reported this incident right away so there is a chance this fool might have been caught before he attempts a grab at someone else's stuff - which might be something of actual value next time. Anyone brazen enough to approach someone and grab a bag in their hand is a potential danger to others in the community

Yeah, my comments on hoodie wearers got yanked.

Oh well. To be fair, the MV Voice staff are in a no-win battle to keep comments within reasonable boundaries while still allowing freedom of expression. However, the political correctness is out of control. We can get a description of what would-be poop thief was wearing but not of the thief. Seriously?

Puts a whole new meaning behind the saying, "Crime doesn't pay"....

Wow, I only asked if all comments that included [the name of a building in Mountain View where you can solicit labor during the daytime hours] are automatically censored, and it got deleted! How is that offensive?

pogo is a registered user.

There was no need for such bad behavior, I'm sure that if he had asked nicely she would have been happy to give him the bag.
