El Camino Hospital names new CFO

Ifitkhar Hussain has more than 25 years experience in health care finance

El Camino Hospital has appointed a permanent chief financial officer. Beginning in April, Ifitkhar Hussain will replace the outgoing interim CFO, Ned Borgstrom.

Hussain comes to El Camino after 26 years in health care finance, according to a hospital press release. Prior to taking the position, Hussain worked as the chief financial officer at Mills-Peninsula Health Services for nine years. Before that he was director of finance at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center for 12 years. Prior to that, Hussain was director of accounting services at Mercy Healthcare/Catholic Healthcare West.

"Iftikhar brings a proven track record of careful fiscal management, organizational leadership and innovative thinking that will be a tremendous asset to our hospital," El Camino's President and CEO, Tomi Ryba, said in the press release.

The outgoing Borgstrom has served twice as interim CFO and once as interim CEO for El Camino Hospital. Most recently, he replaced former CFO, Mike King, who according to a hospital spokeswoman left in mid-September of 2013 "to pursue other opportunities."

Borgstrom is scheduled to stay on as interim CFO until Hussain takes over the role in April.

"The next couple of years will bring some exciting changes to El Camino Hospital that will allow us to better serve our patients and create greater operational and cost efficiencies, " Ryba said. "Iftikhar has experienced many of these changes and will be able to provide us with critical guidance as we embark on our journey."
