The Foothill-De Anza College District board is looking to fill a vacancy after trustee Hal Plotkin accepted a job as a senior policy advisor in Barack Obama's administration.
Plotkin officially resigned on Tuesday in order to take a job reporting to former Foothill-De Anza Chancellor Martha Kanter, who recently left for Washington, D.C. to serve as undersecretary of education in the Obama administration.
The board plans to approve a new trustee on Aug. 31 to finish Plotkin's term, which ends in December 2011. Applicants must submit a resume and a letter explaining their experience and interest in the position. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Aug. 17.
Potential applicants must be registered voters and live within the district, which includes Cupertino, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Mountain View, most of Sunnyvale and parts of San Jose, Santa Clara, Saratoga and unincorporated Santa Clara County.
For more information about applying, see the Foothill-De Anza announcement.
