MVHS graduate gets $20K medical scholarship

Share
The Palo Alto Medical Foundation has given Eduardo Bent, a recent Mountain View High School graduate who wants to become a doctor, $20,000 to attend a four-year university so that he can start pursuing his medical career.

PAMF physicians gave a total of $60,000 in three "Pre-Medical Scholarships" to local students, who are all committed to becoming physicians. The other two recipients attend Menlo-Atherton High School and East Side Preparatory in East Palo Alto.

"This scholarship provides financial assistance to outstanding scholars who have overcome significant hardships to pursue their dreams of becoming physicians, and who have demonstrated their desire to give back to the community," said Dr. Rebecca Leon of the PAMF Pre-Med Scholarship Committee in a press release.

Bent will start at Santa Clara University in the fall, and plans to go into primary care medicine or radiology.

Congratulations; you make Mt View proud! Better invest that 20K wisely. It's going to cost a lot more than that to see you through med school, but what a wonderful start. All the best.

CONGRATS to Eduardo. I used to work for PAMF. This is a great program , PAMF has been doing this for many years. I am sure there are many more people like Eduardo out there who are waiting for a chance and break like this to succeed in life and become a useful citizen to their communities. I hope other clinics, foundations and hospitals come up with similar plans and make our young students' dreams become real. This will help our community when these students become full fledged doctors.
