Recycling at Art & Wine Festival
|
A few weeks from now, the annual Art & Wine Festival will take over Castro Street for a weekend, generating tens of thousands of used bottles, cups and cans.
This year there will be an unprecedented effort to recycle those materials, led by newly founded environmental group Green Mountain View. The group is currently looking for dozens of volunteers to help promote recycling and monitor waste disposal during the event, which takes place Sept. 12 and 13.
"In previous years the vast majority of recyclables went straight into the trash, but this year we are going to raise the bar," said Green Mountain View member Bruce England in an e-mail.
