COMING UP: City holds budget workshops
|
City officials are holding two public workshops this week in order to discuss an ongoing deficit of several million dollars — and the attendant possibility of service cuts and tax proposals.
City manager Kevin Duggan and finance director Patty Kong will be conducting the workshops, titled "City Budgeting 101 and City Services." The workshops will not discuss proposals or recommendations, focusing instead on informing residents on how the city is financed, the budget process and the city's relationship to city services.
The first meeting is Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Castro School multi-purpose room, 505 Escuela Ave. The second meeting is Saturday, Nov. 7 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 500 Castro St.— Daniel DeBolt

Posted by cc, a resident of another community, on Nov 3, 2009 at 3:15 pm The City of Palo Alto should attend this. Oh, wait it's too late. They've already balanced the budget on the backs of the employees...
Service cuts...hmmm, Palo Altans would not have it! Instead, they took food from the employees mouths.
Mountain View--do not follow Palo Alto's lead. They are already losing many, many dedicated, long time employees. It will take years to fix.

BTW, Since the majority of spending is on employees, doesn't it make sense that some cuts are going to affect them?
