Car sparks three-alarm Montecito blaze
|
| A three-alarm fire that started in a parked car and burned a Mountain View apartment complex Friday morning was controlled nearly two hours after the flames were reported, according to a fire spokesman.
The blaze was reported at 4:26 a.m. at 1335 Montecito Ave. and was brought under control at about 6:10 a.m., a fire dispatcher said.
The fire appears to have started in a vehicle parked in a first-story carport and run up the structure's wall, according to Mountain View Fire Department spokesman Lynn Brown.
The apartments were evacuated and no injuries were reported, Brown said. — Bay City News Service Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.

Posted by 4l4n, a resident of the Monta Loma neighborhood, on Mar 11, 2008 at 11:03 am I wonder what started the fire. Possibly an electrical short...But I don't see why it would short out by itself at 4am.
