| Nathan Talarico has been charged with homicide in the shooting death of 20-year-old Mountain View resident Jeffrey Johnson, according to Santa Clara County Deputy D.A. Raymond Mendoza.
Talarico's hearing is scheduled to begin this Tuesday, March 25. Local police are still pursuing a case against other suspects, Mendoza said.
If convicted, the 19-year-old Sunnyvale resident could face a minimum of 25 years to life, Mendoza said. Since the case was not closed, he would not disclose further details.
Johnson was shot in the chest during a drug deal Feb. 7 on Ehrhorn Avenue near El Camino Real. He died moments after the shooting.
Police began tracking three young men, including Talarico, who was arrested days later while getting off a bus in Mobile, Ala. A second suspect, 19-year-old Jose Romero, was arrested but released due to lack of evidence. Police are also trying to build a case against a third suspect, but haven't arrested him due to lack of evidence. — Casey Weiss Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition?
