Suspect arrested in bank parking lot robbery
Police still looking for second suspect

Bookmark and Share
Police have arrested one man and are looking for another in connection with a robbery, which occurred in the parking lot of a local bank at the end of December.

According to Mountain View police spokeswoman Liz Wylie, authorities suspect a 26-year-old transient, along with an unknown man, robbed a 27-year-old Mountain View man after he had made a withdrawal from the Chase ATM at 749 W. El Camino Real on Dec. 30 at about 10:30 p.m.

As the Mountain View man was getting into his car, Wylie said, he saw two men hop over a nearby fence into the Chase parking lot. The men approached the victim and called out to him, saying they needed to talk to him.

The man, fearing the men had malicious intent, got into his car and locked the doors, Wylie said, but before he had the chance to drive away, one of the men "used an unknown object to smash the driver's side window." The two robbers demanded the victim's cash -- less than $200 -- and his cell phone. The man complied with the assailant's commands and then the two men fled on foot toward Victor Way.

The man had a second cell phone on him, which he used to call the police.

When officers arrived, they found a suspect on nearby on Bonita Avenue. The victim identified him as the robber who smashed his car window, and the victim's cell phone was found near him, Wylie said. Police arrested David Morris and booked him into county jail on charges of robbery and parole violation.

The second robber was not located, but was described as a white man between the ages of 25 and 30, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, of medium build and standing about 5 feet 7 inches tall.

Anyone with information regarding this case may call the Mountain View Police Department at 903-6395. All callers may remain anonymous.

When is the City going to wake up and realize that gangs have started moving into Mountain View? What would have happened to this man if they had caught him outside his car? The police's standard response is to cooperate. I wonder if he had stopped and talked to these men whether he would be in the Hospital right now?

Slow news day that the Voice is reporting on something that happen a week ago?

Yay for MVPD getting one of the bad guys! Hope this lets them find the second one.

Two thoughts:

+ Let's keep things in perspective and not huddle in our homes in fear. The violent crime rate in Mountain View has been falling every year since 2000.

+ If you have a smart phone, get an app that will locate your phone remotely. Will make it easier for the police to find robbers and for you to get your phone back.

these guys.... someone let these robbers know...there are a LOT of people who are armed in Mt View. Or have big enough cars that they can drive over curbs, up steep sandy inclines...and right over thugs

Who carries two cell phones?? Is it me, or is that odd?

Weird that the Voice would open this crime story for comment, but require people to log into the comment section, when it comes to other ethnic groups doing crime.
