Sounds good. That would promote family dining, and increase tax revenue (from dining in).

The Council is WRONG to ban drive-thrus because:

1. People should be able to make their own choice;

2. People with mobility problems need this alternative;

3. People who are ill;

4. Busy moms with children for a fast take-out meal; and

5. The environmental reason (idling cars) does not take into account more fuel efficent or electric and hybrid cars.

Therefore, the Council is wrong on this one - its simply personal agendas and the usual flavor of the month crowd.

Thank goodness for Council members Means and Inks! And Council member Bryant's remark to ban seniors from driving is inappropriate and I would like to talk to Bryant five years from now to see if she still feels the same way!

The only problem with this idea is businesses would have to increase the number of parking spaces. Land is too scarce and expensive in this area to accomodate that. Those businesses that rely on drive-thru customers will seek other locations, likely outside of Mountain View, causing the drivers wanting the product from those businesses to drive farther...increasing fuel consumption, adding to congestion, and potentially shifting needed sales tax revenue to neighboring communities. To Council: The stated reason for this regulation is counter to the actual affect! Evaluate a drive through on a case by case basis. It might make sense to allow one or two!
