Molly Magees employee punched in face

A man was arrested around closing time on March 16 after allegedly punching a Molly Magees employee in the face in the public parking lot behind the pub, police said.
The assailant was part of a group of about 20 people loitering in the parking lot at 230 Hope St., according to Liz Wylie, a spokeswoman with the Mountain View police. The group was acting belligerent and rowdy just after 1 a.m., so several employees from the bar asked the group to leave. That's when the man struck, according to police.
Though the victim in the assault declined medical attention and did not wish to press charges, the man accused of the assault, Francisco Alas, was arrested on charges of public intoxication and possession of marijuana, Wylie said.

When the city's less than thought out smoking ban starts in May, you'll have at least 20 people in that parking lot at a time on any Thursday, Friday or Saturday night - patrons from 4 different bars that share that parking lot, since it will be the only "legal" place for bar patrons to smoke. Kicking people out of enclosed patios with watchful security into this parking lot. Now everyone's tax dollars will be spent having to pay for cleaning up cigarette butts, the potential vandalism to people's cars, and having to pay to have extra police there to babysit instead of stopping real crimes.
Great job Mountain View City Council!
I bet the $14k of county money you'll be spending on ashtrays will seem like peanuts when you add everything else up.

Blame anything but the individual that actually committed the assault...
