Police: Mobile home death not murder

Bookmark and Share
Police investigating the death of a 42-year-old man at a Mountain View mobile home park announced late last week that he had initiated a fight with his friends before dying.

On April 16 at around 6:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to a mobile home at 440 Moffett Blvd. following a report of a fight. The officers found Mountain View resident Walter Joyce Jr., who had expired, and two other people who had sustained minor injuries.

Paramedics transported Joyce to a local hospital where he died soon after arrival, according to police.

An investigation into the incident revealed that Joyce had allegedly initiated a violent confrontation with two "drinking buddies," said Sgt. Kenneth Leal last Friday. Joyce's friends were apparently trying to control Joyce when he died, according to Leal.

The friends received the majority of the injuries from the fight, according to Leal, who added that the medical examiner's office is waiting for toxicology testing before the cause of Joyce's death is determined.

Police classified the case as an involuntary manslaughter and will forward it to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office for review, according to Leal.

"drinking" buddies? Are you kidding me? These clowns wake up drinking beer and smoking either meth or crack then roll through the mobile home park at all hours of the night. The owner of the home this guy was killed at is a contributing factor by allowing these creeps to stay at his home while he's there or not. While I feel for the deceased and his family, he had no business trespassing nor did his "buddies".

The two guys that were left alive killed the guy. Call it manslaughter or whatever they want. If they weren't high, they'd all be alive today.
