Unarmed man robs Rotten Robbie station
|
An unarmed man made off with a handful of cash Wednesday evening after robbing a local gas station, police said.
Shortly before 7:20 p.m., May 16, a man approached the woman standing behind the cash register of the Rotten Robbie at 314 N. Whisman Dr., and demanded she empty the till, according to Liz Wylie, a spokeswoman with the Mountain View Police Department.
The man had no weapon, nor did he pretend to have one, Wylie said, but the clerk told police she cooperated with him for fear he might hurt her. After she gave him "less than $450" (an exact amount was not released), the man fled. It is not known which direction he ran.
The victim described the robber as a Hispanic man in his middle or late 20s, of medium height and build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, Wylie said. Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.
