Supervisors set to vote on sales tax measure

Bookmark and Share
The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors this afternoon were set to vote on whether to place a measure on the November ballot that would increase the countywide sales tax by one-eighth of a cent.

The board would also need to give secondary approval to the measure at a meeting on Aug. 7 before it could go on the ballot, according to Supervisor Ken Yeager's office.

The funds generated by the tax increase would be used for a variety of countywide services, including public safety, health programs for low-income children, housing for the homeless, and programs aimed at helping students stay in school.

Wednesday's vote will take place at a 4 p.m. special meeting in the Board of Supervisors chambers at 70 W. Hedding St. in San Jose.

No. Another waste of money scheme by over paid government bureaucrats

Salary cuts for all county employees. We need to get cost structures in-line before we start throwing more money at them.

I'm voting "NO." Our combined tax burden is too high and politicians continue to push wasteful projects like high-speed rail.

I'll vote against all tax increase proposals until government learns to live within its means.

Yet another fraction of a percent increase.

Death by a thousand cuts.
