Bookmark and Share
Fogging in Mountain View to combat mosquitoes that may be infected with West Nile virus is set for tonight, Sept. 4, at 11 p.m.

The Santa Clara County Vector Control District confirmed on Aug. 30 that adult mosquitoes collected from the 94040 ZIP code area of Mountain View tested positive for West Nile virus. The ground fogging is set for an area of Mountain View west of Highway 85, and partially overlapping the area treated on Aug. 9, district officials said.

Anyone with questions should contact the Santa Clara County Vector Control District. District staff will be available during extended hours today from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. via a dedicated phone line at 800-314-2427. For more, visit: www.sccvector.org

I live in the affected area, and this is the first I heard about it. Prior to the last fogging, we all received information fliers at our homes. This time, nothing. A little advanced notice would be nice.

@tommy_g_: Yes, something is up. Read the article. They found west nile infected mosquitoes so they are fogging for them. sounds like a good idea to me.

The article is incorrect when it states that "The ground fogging is set for an area of Mountain View east of Highway 85", the area is bounded on the east by Highway 85. Be sure to click the link in the article to see the actual map of the area.

I live on Mount Vernon Court and did not come home to find any of the alleged informational packets they said would be distributed this last weekend. Even then, that's not a whole lot of warning.

It was actually fairly well publicized. And either way, wouldn't you rather have them act quickly than to give more "warning"? What are you planning to do anyway?

Jeff

Read the article again. It says that 94040 is WEST of 85
