School board candidate forum at Crittenden

Bookmark and Share
Candidates running for the Mountain View Whisman School District board and the county board of education will each have a chance to address the community Wednesday evening at a candidate forum hosted by the local chapter of the League of Women Voters.

The forum will be held at Crittenden Middle School, 1701 Rock St., and will begin at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 10., according to Ellen Wheeler -- an official with the Mountain View-Los Altos area League of Women Voters as well as a current MVWSD trustee.

At the beginning of the forum, candidates will deliver opening statements before they are asked a series of questions picked from the audience.

Immediately following the school board candidate forum, another forum will be held for the two candidates running for Trustee Area No. 1 of the Santa Clara County Board of Education -- an area which covers Mountain View, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Palo Alto and Sunnyvale. That forum will begin at 8 p.m.

For the school board forum, Wheeler said the League is asking people to arrive at 6:15 p.m. so that they will have time to submit questions for the candidates. Evaluators will look over the questions and pick the eight most pertinent and neutral questions as they relate to the candidates and apply to the school district. Those interested in attending only the county board of education forum should arrive at 7:45 p.m.

The candidates for the school board are Christopher Chiang, Peter Darrah, Bill Lambert, Steven Nelson and Jim Pollart. The candidates for the county board of education are Grace Mah and Dave Cortright.
