Burglars hit mobile home park

Bookmark and Share
About $17,000 in cash and jewelry was stolen from a home in the Santiago Villa Mobile Home Park on Oct. 24, police said.

The man and woman who lived in the mobile home returned home at about 12:30 p.m. after being gone since about 8:45 a.m. and found their belongings strewn across the floor of their bedroom, according to Sgt. Sean Thompson, public information officer for the Mountain View Police Department.

Investigators believe that the burglar, or burglars, got into the residence through the bedroom window, before they made off with $2,000 in cash and about $15,000 in jewelry, Thompson said.

Police have no suspect information at this time.

They knew what was there. Santiago Villa is far too secluded for this to have been random, especially since every one of those mobile homes looks the same.

I agree that this was probably not random and perhaps the thieves knew the homeowners. However, as a resident of this park, it would be nice if the park management would put a notice out to the residents informing us of this event. This could serve several purposes, including reminding residents to vigilant by keeping a watchful eye for anyone that doesn't belong in the park, and reminding residents to secure their homes. If this robbery was perpetrated by someone that was also a resident (anything is possible), it would also put them 'on notice' that we are all watching!

It does not make me happy that I have to find out about this kind of activity in my own mobile home park via MV Voice TWELVE days after the robbery!!
