Police find one of two runaway girls
12-year-old found; police still searching for 14-year-old

Bookmark and Share
Mountain View police report that one of two local runaway girls have been found. The younger of the girls was located by San Jose police in that city and brought back to her Mountain View home a little after 9 p.m. on Dec. 17.

The 14-year-old has yet to be located, police said.

Both girls -- who are not related to one another -- are thought to have left the home where they both live in the 500 block of View Street shortly before 8 p.m. on Dec. 14. It appears each girl left on her own and no foul play is suspected.

The two girls each have ties to San Jose -- a city where they both resided until recently, police said.

Although police released the girls' names and photos, they have been rescinded at the request of the Santa Clara County Social Services Agency. The girls are juveniles and dependents, and police officials did not have permission to release their names or photographs, said Tracy Bowers, the agency's manager.

Bay City News Service contributed to this report.
