Fatality on Caltrain tracks Friday afternoon

Bookmark and Share
A person who reportedly jumped from behind some bushes onto the tracks was fatally struck by a Caltrain train just north of the San Antonio station in Mountain View Friday, the agency said.

"This afternoon, at approximately 4:20 p.m., northbound train No. 263 struck a trespasser at the San Antonio Caltrain Station in Mountain View," said Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn in a press release. "Trains are stopped in both directions while emergency personnel respond to the scene.

The victim apparently leapt onto the tracks north of the station's platform, Dunn said. Caltrain trains were subsequently forced to single-track at 10 mph around the incident while emergency personnel responded, causing delays of up to two hours.

The victim's identity has not been released, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

Do you give sympathy to those who chose to end their lives?

I don't. They are cowards.

DG - I was stuck for 2 hours because of this person's choice, but I still feel some sympathy. I think that's human.
