Condos approved for El Camino Real
|
| A large mixed-use development at 1984 El Camino Real got unanimous approval Tuesday night after a higher density version was rejected in February 2007.
The project will add 81 condos and 8,000 square feet of retail space, in a trio of three-story buildings where the Pacific Inn now stands between Escuela and Rengstorff avenues.
Council members praised its Grand Boulevard-inspired design, including the fact that it mixed small and large condos, adequate open space, underground parking and a widened sidewalk along El Camino Real. Bryant said she would actually tout it as an example for the city if the developer, Hanover Company, succeeded in building it to the LEED silver standard. — Daniel DeBolt Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? Posted by MViewer, a resident of the Old Mountain View neighborhood, on Jul 9, 2008 at 11:16 pm Glad to see the Pacific Inn go. While we're at it, how about getting rid of the Adult video/bookstore and fixing up the Rainbow West Motel too? El Camino still seems very seedy and neglected. I would not want to buy a condo along there.
