Fire at former A&W controlled within 20 minutes
|
| Firefighters remained at the scene of a one-alarm fire this evening that burned a Filipino restaurant in Mountain View that used to be an A&W Restaurant.
Fire spokesman Lynn Brown said the fire was reported at 260 Moffett Blvd. around 4:45 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames but were able to extinguish the fire by 5:05 p.m., he said.
Brown said he didn't know if there were any customers in the restaurant at the time the blaze began, but employees were present. There were no injuries to either firefighters or employees, Brown said.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire but an initial estimated damage is $50,000.
