COMING UP: Child care center grand opening
|
| This Thursday, Mountain View will cut the ribbon on the long-contested, city-operated, $5.4 million child care center.
Construction began in December on the building, located at 260 Escuela Ave. behind the Senior Center. It will serve 104 children, from infants to 5-year-olds, with about a third of those children subsidized if they qualify as coming from low-income families.
The grand opening is scheduled for Aug. 28 at 3:30 p.m. and will include the unveiling of an art installation by Robert Ellison.
Of the project's cost, $2.8 million was paid for by a loan from the Packard Foundation. A lease with the operator, Children's Creative Learning Center (CCLC), is expected to bring the city $202,000 a year in revenue.

Posted by LTM, a resident of the Rex Manor neighborhood, on Aug 30, 2008 at 8:02 am What nationality are you Joe? I guess you could look at it this way ...at least their parents are working. Or they can do what the Chinese/Indians do in Cupertino which is the majority of the population there. Bring over(sponsor thru the correct channels) their entire family to watch their children because they don't trust us/our American ways/tradtions. Because we all know we try to convert everyone to "our beliefs". I have several Indian/Chinese fellow workers and the way they talk about America is disgusting and very unpatriotic. Go home I wish I could say. They also don't want to learn to speak English which is why we have to have ELD schools. Oh yeah, they also tell me about their relatives who just arrive getting on Goverment Assistence and Housing and Medicaid. I guess we are not that disgusting, when they know how to work the system and get "our money". What I don't understand is how they arrive and buy up houses and tear down to build monster houses. Is it because we Americans like our privacy and live one family to a home and not 3 families?
