Progress on two pedestrian trails
|
| A pedestrian underpass that will some day extend the Permanente Creek Trail under Old Middlefield Way was approved as a general concept by the City Council on Tuesday night.
Council member Ronit Bryant said she was concerned that neighbors were not notified of the consent calendar item, but city staff members said that neighbors were notified of the recent study session when the council informally selected the underpass instead of an overpass.
Meanwhile, local software company Intuit has donated $50,000 for trees along the new section of Stevens Creek Trail extending to Sleeper Avenue. The donation was in recognition of company founder Scott Cook.

Posted by Alison Chaiken, a resident of the Shoreline West neighborhood, on Oct 20, 2008 at 8:31 pm Please note that the Permanente Creek extension is a *bicycle* and pedestrian trail. The extension will be an important east-west commute route for the increasing number of bicycle commuters who work on the east side of 101. Crossing 101 at Shoreline Boulevard is dangerous by bicycle, particularly in the dark. As a Shoreline Boulevard resident, I look forward to using the trail to attend talks at the Computer History Museum and Google.
